Someone needs to point out to me the purpose of Super High Me.

So we all know of the documentary Super Size Me ( starring Morgan Spurlock) where he eats nothing but McDonald's for 30 days to prove the effects of a fast food diet. I heard about Super High Me years ago and I finally was able to watch it only recently, twice in attempt to get the point. I did not expect the direction the documentary took because I just assumed that the film would be anti 'the herb' as Super Size Me kind of is with McDonald's.

Instead in this film, comedian Doug Benson (who is a regular smoker) has to stop smoking for 30 days and then smoke for a full 30 days there after in order for the experiment to be effective. He undergoes a series of tests (psychic, IQ test, lung capacity, psychological, sperm count) and during the time when he is smoking daily it is proven that he passes most of the tests, some even a level higher than when he is not smoking (other than his lung capacity tests). So maybe that's the point, weed is alright. *Insert Super Excited Stoners here*

Now firstly, I do not think that this Benson guy is any special really in filming this. I know people who smoke weed all day long without the film crew and the permit to buy it legally. So he is achieving no great feat as opposed to Spurlock who eats himself to a near heart attack. Secondly, the subject of the documentary (Doug Benson) is not objective at all. He's a pothead! Of course he has a great time with access to some awesome herbs for a full 30 days plus royalties!

It taps into the legalities of medicinal marijuana smoking overseas which I found very interesting; though I could not relate as I could not imagine asking Dr Moola for a marijuana prescription for my never ending migraine. Whatever the point of this film is, I really missed it with Benson as the only subject (which in all fairness they state at the beginning of the movie) . Maybe more subjects if anyone wants to prove a point? *insert Super Excited Stoners signing up to be guinea pigs here*

I have it though, I think it makes for okay stoner conversation with mates over sharing a... cup of tea (of course).

Remember kids: Drugs are bad for you but don't you forget to eat your greens!

Watch out for Super Drunk Me coming out real soon!!

Kidding...

P.S: This is just my opinion. I do not  encourage/discourage the smoking of cannibas in anyway. Share on Tumblr
